Knuth Machine Tools offers its VDM VTL range of conventional vertical lathes in seven different sizes with swing ranging from 31.5" to 102". Featuring heavy-duty construction, fine grain castings and wide boxways, the lathes are suitable for OD and ID turning.
The lathes are equipped with a vertical ram and five-station toolholder as well as a horizontal side ram with a four-position toolholder. The adjustable spindle runs in a high-precision two-row roller bearing and features a reduction gear drive to ensure high torque. Spindle motors ranging to 50 hp are available, depending on the model. The lathes accommodate workpieces weighing more than 22,000 lbs and heights ranging to 59", and extended columns are available for additional height capacity. A new control panel with a three-axis digital readout features spindle speed on the display.
The VDM VTL series also includes models with turntables offering 1.2 to 315 rpm. Optional full enclosures, turntable enclosures and chip conveyors are available as well.
