The company introduces the Taurus-Wotan Turningmax vertical mill-turn machine for large workpieces such as pump and electric motor housings and jet engine cases. The mill-turn machine is a bridge-type milling machine with a turning table mounted on a sliding saddle as an indexed Y axis, which allows off-center milling, drilling and boring work. Available in three models with table diameters ranging from 70" to 137", the machine comes with a 134-hp turning table and can accommodate loads as heavy as 77,000 lbs. The ram is available with a 40" or 59" stroke and a 40-hp milling spindle, and it can be equipped with a variety of attachment heads such as right-angle and universal milling heads. The ram and ram saddle ways are hydrostatic for friction-less contouring capability and high rigidity and stiffness, the company says.
