Waldrich Coburg introduces its Taurus portal-type vertical milling machine for large workpieces as an alternative to large horizontal boring machines. This machine provides rigid, accurate and fast machining with fewer part setups, according to the company.
The Taurus 25 model has a work envelope measuring 2 × 4 × 2 m while the Taurus 30’s measures 2.5 × 5× 3m. Heavy-duty, cast iron construction and hydrostatic guideways combine with the 63-kW, 5,000-rpm, two-speed spindle drive to perform well in applications such as gearbox or pump housings, valve bodies, frames, engine blocks, railway bogies, and machine tool components. Both models are available with universal spindle units for full five-axis machining of molds, Kaplan turbine blades, tools and fixtures.
