The KGDM vertical spindle surface grinder from Williams and White is designed to deliver reliable performance in harsh environments. Carriage travel using linear bearing technology is said to result in less downtime and greater grinding accuracy. CNC control of the grinding stone’s down-feed gives greater controllability, with resolution up to 0.0001", according to the company. The 360-degree rotation of the magnetic chuck offers versatility because specialty fixtures can be mounted to the backside of the magnet while maintaining a precision ground surface on the magnet face. The KGDM is equipped with through-spindle coolant giving effective grinding performance by reducing material expansion while cooling the spindle motor. This results in a longer life span for the motor. The grinder is available in multiple lengths ranging from 60" to 240".
