Available from Yama Seiki, Goodway’s GV-1 series vertical turning centers provide rigidity and accuracy for heavy-duty cutting applications. A heavily ribbed, thermally balanced Meehanite bed and column provide increased rigidity and resist stress for maximum vibration damping, the company says. The reinforced ribbings are directly cast into the bed and column structure. The contact surfaces of all slides, spindles, and ballscrew-bearing housings are hand-scraped for precision and rigidity. The box-shaped structure of the crossrail is said to prevent thermal displacement and increase machine stability during turning operations.
Two live-turret models are available: the GV-1200M and GV-1600M. The GV-1200M model provides a maximum turning diameter ranging to 1,350 mm with a weight load ranging to 5,000 kg. The GV-1600M model offers a maximum turning diameter of 1,800 mm and weight load ranging to 8,000 kg. The machines feature a two-speed gearbox and 40/6,000i-series spindle motor. The W-axis travel ranges to 800 mm for greater machining flexibility. Both models can be equipped with a live tooling spindle and Cf-axis capabilities for turning, milling, contour milling and drilling applications.
