Available from YMT, the KaoMing EP series Plano vertical machining center is equipped with a moveable crossbeam W axis with clamping on both sides for accuracy during heavy cutting. According to the company, the table is capable of handling oversized, heavy workpieces with the accuracy required for aerospace and die mold applications. The mounting brackets for the W-axis ballscrew are integrated with the columns to maximize rigidity.
Z and W axis travels measure 43" and 59", respectively, and the ram-type spindle head features a cross-section of 15.7" × 15.7" for rigidity and stability under heavy cutting conditions. The bridge machine offers travels ranging from 127" to 324" in the X axis, 125" to 173" in the Y axis and 27" to 43" in the Z axis, with as much as 104" under the spindle.
The VMC is capable of machining all four sides with the angular head attachment and machining the top face with the vertical spindle head in one setup. The 30-hp, 3,500-rpm angular head can be indexed in 5-degree increments for complex workpieces.
