Mazak’s versatile VTC-200G VMC is designed for part production of long, heavy workpieces. The 154.3" × 20.1" fixed worktable accommodates 4,600-lb workpieces and can be partitioned to allow for machining on one side while an additional setup takes place on the other. This enables operation similar to that of a pallet changer, but with additional flexibility.
According to the company, the machine’s full, traveling-column design maximizes rigidity, reduces operator fatigue and allows convenient access to the worktable for safe and easy part loading and unloading. Additionally, it is outfitted with a 40-taper, 25-hp, 12,000-rpm, digital AC spindle motor that increases productivity when machining steel or aluminum. The machining center also features a spindle cooling system designed for constant temperature control and minimal thermal growth.
A 24-tool servo magazine (48-tool optional) travels with the column to provide tool-change capability virtually anywhere along the length of the X axis with a tool-to-tool change time of 4.7 seconds. The machine features X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 144" × 20" × 20", respectively. The worktable can accommodate an optional NC rotary table without cable interference.
