The DMC 650 V vertical machining center from DMG Mori Seiki is designed for workpieces weighing as much as 800 kg. The VMC features a 14,000-rpm spindle providing 121 Nm of torque and offers rapid traverse rates ranging to 36 m/min. The machine’s capacity can be expanded for performance milling with an optional 303-Nm torque R SK-50 spindle. Trough cooling of the drives and guideways promotes high precision, the company says.
Tool magazines with as many as 120 stations are available, and the machine can be equipped with Operate 4.5 on a Siemens 840D solutionline control or Heidenhain TNC 640. A version equipped with the company’s CELOS operating system is expected to be available mid-year.
