Mori Seiki’s MV-1003L VMC uses cast iron columns and beds to achieve the high rigidity needed for heavy-duty cutting in the aircraft, shipping and energy industries.

The machine’s four types of spindles enable a range of processing options—from high speed machining to heavy-duty cutting. For high speed specifications, the spindle is powered by a direct-drive spindle motor, with no gears or belts to contribute to vibration.

For the X- and Y-axis feeds, air and lubricating oil are fed between the bed, saddle and table. Other features include a load-reducing, semi-floating system a 138" X-axis stroke and a 154" × 40" worktable.

Thirteen spiral chip conveyors discharge chips, while a composite chip conveyor accommodates various types of chips, regardless of material or length.
