The Sabre wet-blasting system from Vapormatt has been developed in response to customer demand to serve three new user groups: small- to medium-volume manufacturers, coating centers and R&D facilities. The company says it provides a cost-effective, high-performance wet blasting process to enhance output quality on a range of cutting tools.
The process uses a nozzle arrangement that focuses blast guns on critical tool faces and cutting edges, delivering consistent and controllable results. This ensures total coverage of tools, offering edge radii within ±5 micron tolerance of specification and a surface that will dramatically improve coating adhesion, the company says. The option to fit both X- and Y-axis nozzle arrangements facilitates user customization and makes it possible to process both round shank tools and cutting inserts in one system.
The wet-blasting system is suitable for round shank tools ranging from 3 to 30 mm in diameter and 46 to 307 mm in length and can accommodate as many as three Manz trays at one time. A compact footprint measuring 2.34 m² enables it to easily fit into existing production lines. The company says the control and monitoring systems offer consistent and reproducible processing.
