Aven’s Connect Adapt Wi-Fi camera system upgrades microscopes for use with mobile devices. The accessory can turn an existing inspection system into a Wi-Fi hotspot, providing the capability to send high-quality images to iOS and Android devices within a range of 30 ft. No existing Internet connection or wireless network is needed, the company says. The Connect Adapt unit attaches to a C-mount trinocular port or over an eyepiece with the adapter provided.
The adapter works with a free Wi-Viewer app that simultaneously links as many as three phones or tablets, enabling users to see magnified images and video, and save them on separate devices. A snapshot button saves images to all connected devices. Active pixel technology and a 1/4" color CMOS sensor enable crisp imaging and accurate hues. The camera features automatic gain control, white balance and exposure functions, and is powered by three rechargeable AA nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries. The device provides image saving and sharing capabilities and is designed for use by quality control inspectors, lab researchers, engineering teams and others.
