According to the company, the CUT 20 wire-cutting EDM combines performance with ease of use. Able to accommodate wire diameters ranging from 0.15 to 0.3 mm, the machine features a T-shaped base frame that allows loading of large, heavy workpieces. To provide accuracy and repeatable results, the EDM features a compact, rigid structure and glass scales on the X and Y axes. Additionally, the machine is equipped with a new human-machine interface (HMI). The HMI is built on the Windows XP platform to enable easy integration into a data network via LAN. The company says its programming increases flexibility in production environments while enabling new users to quickly learn and understand the wire EDM process. The control incorporates an IPG-V generator, which is said to enable fast material removal rates even with brass wire. On jobs involving three cuts or less, the company’s “Speed” technology package is designed to allow the machine to achieve surface finishes between Ra 0.6 µm and Ra 0.35 µm while minimizing operator costs.
