The AQ750LH wire EDM from Sodick features expanded Z height and linear motor drive technology. The EDM is well-suited for automotive mold and die, aerospace, and energy applications, including parts such as turbine hubs, aerofoil vanes, instrument panels and bumpers.
The machine features a 24" cutting capacity and a fixed-table design for machining heavy workpieces without affecting the table positioning or workpiece accuracy. X-Y travels measure 29.53" × 16.68". UV-axis travels enable the machining of extreme taper angles ranging to 45 degrees to the full Z capacity. Because the UV travels are larger than XY movements, tapering can even be performed beyond the normal XY travels of the machine, the company says.
Collision protection in the control monitors voltage in the axes drives to protect against operator error. When voltage exceeds a pre-determined load, the machine will stop and display an error message. The control also provides automatic machining-condition selection based on wire diameter, workpiece material and workpiece thickness information stored in a database. Additional features include an L-cut wire chopper, high-speed generator, low-maintenance tank seal, multi-filtration system, wire jumbo feeder, super jet AWT and vertical sliding tank door.
