The Emerging Technology Center (ETC), run by AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, has presented technology innovations at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) since its inception in 2004. The overall goal of the ETC is to inform and educate the manufacturing community about advancements in technology that will impact the industry’s future. It has become so popular that IMTS 2018 features two centers: ETC Digital Transformation in the North Building and ETC Additive Manufacturing in the West Building.
ETC Digital Transformation showcases a collaborative robot (cobot) operating within a connected system. It demonstrates a vertical CNC mill, a robot operating system-Industrial (ROS-I) interface and an articulated arm that autonomously transfers milled parts to a coordinate measuring machine. It also displays other connected and automated innovations well suited for aerospace, automotive, medical and energy sector applications.
ETC Additive Manufacturing offers a variety of multi-media, including video and live manufacturing. The center provides insights into the materials and methods of additive manufacturing, as well as AM’s future. It also features demonstrations of breakthroughs in speeds, materials and technologies developed by . Visitors can find information on public-private collaborations and AM exhibitors as well.
