SMTCL COO Receives School Honor for Contribution to Manufacturing Education

According to a piece by The Santa Clarita Signal, SMTCL America COO Jerry McCarty was recently honored by the William S. Hart Union High School District in a board meeting for his volunteer work and other contributions. He has been involved with the district’s Advance Technologies Pathway, a manufacturing program for students. SMTCL donated machine tools to several high schools in Santa Clarita, California, in 2015 when the program began.
The Signal quoted Mr. McCarty as saying, “Kids today have really good ideas, and I want to show them how their ideas can come true.”
He has recently been diagnosed with spinal cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. Part of the board meeting included a discussion of a student-led fundraiser for the treatment.
