Creaform’s VXmodel 3D scan-to-CAD module enables users to finalize 3D scan data to use directly in any CAD or 3D printing software. The scan post-treatment module is fully integrated with VXelements, the company’s 3D software platform, eliminating the need to use third-party software for most applications. With the module acting as an integrated bridge, users are able to prepare 3D scan files for CAD or 3D printing solutions in one application, the company says.
The software tool constrains 3D scans using datums and entities for alignment. Its flexible interface enables users to quickly segment a mesh into all the primitive entities, cross-sections and surfaces required to complete final CAD designs. Users can also improve 3D scan meshes and make them suitable for CAD or 3D printing processes. A variety of tools are available to modify files before reverse engineering or 3D printing.
