The X3 version of the company’s CAD/CAM software is designed to increase machining flexibility by placing an emphasis on speed and automation. With feature-based machining, high speed tool motion and faster tool paths, X3 is said to improve shop-floor productivity. The software’s feature-based machining capability allows automatic milling and drilling of solid parts because it can evaluate a part’s features and automatically develop a machining strategy. The high speed machining capability is expressly for 2D machining. It is said to create high cutting and milling speeds, quality surface finishes and longer tool life. According to the company, the software also enables faster multi-axis tool paths with enhanced control. The software can bring tool paths directly into SolidWorks. This allows designers using SolidWorks to program those parts using X3 in the same interface.
