Missler Software has updated its TopSolid’Cam CAM software with new functions designed to enable faster, more precise machining. Spinning operations (turning operations performed with a round insert cutter) are now supported. The combined rotation of the tool and the part is said to improve thermal control of the tool and extend tool life. According to the company, cutting conditions also are improved, enabling increased productivity. A trochoidal grooving function makes it easier to machine deep grooves in hard metals. VoluMill strategies are now integrated into TopSolid’Cam for longer tool life, reduced forces on the machine and faster chip-to-chip times. An automatic tilting mode for five-axis machining helps to prevent potential collisions with the tool and toolholder.
